Course Description

The Global Wind Organization Fire Awareness module  is designed to exceed the requirements for knowledge, understanding, and proficiency in the Fire Awareness Module of the Global Wind Organisation for participants employed in the construction, maintenance and inspection of the offshore wind turbine power generation (WTG) industry both in transit to and on-site.  

 

This course is not designed to meet any STCW nor US Coast Guard standards.  

What You Will Learn

This course aims to provide knowledge and understanding, while providing the participant with practical applications/exercises to apply understanding of and demonstrate fire awareness and insipient basic firefighting skills.   

 

The student who successfully completes this course will understand the use of simple firefighting equipment, escape masks, other equipment normally carried aboard U.S. commercial vessels and in offshore WTG facilities. They will also know how to react properly during maritime emergency situations and take appropriate measures to enhance his/her own survival, that of fellow employees, their transfer vessel and the WTG structure.
